Hennock, on the eastern border of Dartmoor National Park, is to the north east of the gateway town Bovey Tracey.
Strung out along a narrow Dartmoor road and with fantastic views across the Teign Valley, Hennock's a good base for this area of the Park. Hennock St Mary's Church has some magnificent 15th century paintings on its rood screen. Across the road from the church is The Palk Arms.
Close by, you'll find one of the Park's most popular family attractions, Canonteign Falls.
Tottiford Reservoir, Trenchford Reservoir and Kennick Reservoir are also in the area and are well sign-posted.
In summer 2010, Channel 4's 'Time Team' excavated a prehistoric settlement in Tottiford Reservoir. The settlement included a stone circle and stone rows. We'd recommend exploring the reservoirs on foot. We'd also suggest you head north west to Blackingstone Rock for its superb views across the east and north of the Park. A little further on are the National Trust's Castle Drogo and the stunning Teign Gorge.
