One of South West England's top attractions and a National Trust property located at the mouth of the Teign Gorge.
The last castle to be built in England, Drogo was designed by Edwin Lutyens for the wealthy businessman Julius Drewe. The castle's fascinating, the gardens beautiful. There are fine views over north Dartmoor and down to the local town of Chagford. The National Trust property also has a good shop and restaurant serving cream teas.
We lived in the Castle Drogo area for years and it's packed with things to do and places to visit.
The Teign Gorge is essential visiting. A section of the Two Moors Way runs along the lip of the gorge beneath Drogo. The Dartmoor Way runs beneath that along the bank of the River Teign.
See our recommendations for a weekend based around Chagford and a holiday based around Chagford for further ideas.
