The below recommendations are all linked to Google maps but we'd suggest you use an Ordnance Survey OL28 Dartmoor map (the orange ones) for its detail.

Dunsford Wood, owned by the National Trust and run as a Nature Reserve by Devon Wildlife Trust, is located to the the east of Castle Drogo and the Teign Gorge. It's beautiful any time of the year but early Spring brings a special treat: its wild daffodils.
Thousands of wild daffodils carpet the floor of the woods. In 201...

This ranks as one of the best walks in the north of the Park.
We'd recommend starting at Chagford and following the course of the River Teign into the gorge by Castle Drogo. Take the Hunter's Path along the top of the gorge to Fingle Bridge and then return on the Fisherman's Path. It's stunning any time of the year.

Head north up the well worn path to Wistman's Wood National Nature Reserve. From there, trend north east to Longaford Tor. From this large and rocky tor, there are fine panoramic views of...

Along with the Teign Gorge Circular Walk (Medium) and Dart Gorge Circular Walk (Hard), this is one of the finest walks in Dartmoor's many wooded valleys, cleaves and gorges. The views from the ridgeline of this walk over the eastern section of Dartmoor National Park are spectacular.

This is a spectacular walk. We'd recommend trying it in Spring or Autumn to make the most of the natural colours of the Dart Gorge. It's rated hard owing to its length and some of the awkward footing along the gorge's bottom. It took fit adults about six hours with lengthy stops for photography. Clearly, it's not equivalent...

If you can make it to Dartmoor in Autumn (say, October) then this is an especially beautiful walk. On a good day, Autumnal leaves reflected in still water create a stunning effect. Bring a camera.
Start at the main car park at the edge of Fernworthy Forest as you approach from Chagford. Walk anti-clockwise towards the re...

This is a variation on the circular Teign Gorge Walk.
As the name suggests, the Teign Gorge was shaped by the River Teign. This walk explores the banks of the of the River Teign as it flows through the gorge from around Castle Drogo to Fingle Bridge.

Yes Tor & High Willhays are the highest peaks on Dartmoor and the only two mountains in southern England. They're not dramatic, as, say, the Snowdon massif is, but the views are magnificent and the walking hard.
Start at the spacious car park by Meldon Reservoir. Head across Longstone Hill on the track towards Black Tor...
